Newborns are where it all started for me. Photographing newborns was one of the first routes I took when beginning photography, and it taught me so much! I learned so much about lighting and posing, working with preschool aged children. What I've learned from photographing newborns carries over to the rest of my work, and has been the foundation of my career.
Having a niche is fun, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Boudoir... but I could never give up photographing families and couples. I love making my sessions fun for the kids, relaxed for the parents, and an overall enjoyable experience. I am driven to create images that have a vintage edge to them. Standard sit-and-pose portraits bore me, I want raw and real emotion and action!
I knew the first time I laid eyes on Ewan Phelan's portfolio, that boudoir photography was for me. There was something so rebellious, so strong and loud about it. It was everything about myself that I had tried to hide. It was like someone was giving me permission to really be a woman. Not the "sweet" young girl I had always been- but a WOMAN who knows exactly who she is, and tackles her fears head-on. Everything in my body said "You need to do this", so I started learning, and I've never looked back!
